Saffron Partners With Portion
A bit of a fun fact about me — before getting involved in decentralized finance I dabbled in the creative and art sectors. I’m no stranger to the struggles that artists go through trying to stay on top of protecting their intellectual property - it can practically be a full time job in and of itself. When Psykeeper reached out to me and told me that we’re going to be working with Portion — it’s hard to not get a little excited. Portion’s mission statement is something that is near and dear to my heart and this kind of innovation simply wasn’t possible a decade ago. It’s projects like these that make me so excited for what’s to come in the future of blockchain & decentralized technology.
What is Portion?
Utilizing the Ethereum blockchain — Portion allows both artists and collectors across the globe to conduct seamless transactions between one another. No longer will you have to second guess if that really is Poppy Flowers by Van Gogh hanging in your living room and not just some counterfeit that a hurried realtor threw in to get you to close on that timeshare. In this emerging market, there is a digital footprint on each NFT (Non-fungible token) that verifies the originality of the artwork and who created it. In addition, there is no middle man trying to pump up the fees of the exchange — the transaction is conducted strictly between the artist and the collector. Portion allows anyone to create art that directly benefits from digital scarcity — artists get fairly rewarded for their talent and collectors get peace of mind in return. What more could you ask for?
Portion has a network of hundreds of artists, including blue-chip artists who have worked with prominent brands such as Nike and Formula 1. Many more are represented in high profile museums around the world.
I highly encourage you to check out their website and see what kind of amazing things they have on offer. If you’re artistically inclined yourself, it especially would be worth your while because Portion will be promoting Saffron inspired exclusive competitions in the near future. Invitations to participate will be sent to artists on the Portion platform to create Saffron concept art. All submissions will receive 5,000 PRT while top pieces will receive further rewards. The newly minted Saffron NFT’s will be distributed to the stakers on the Saffron protocol and will subsequently be sellable on the Portion marketplace.
Portion Governance Token
Portion Governance Token (PRT) are ERC-20 assets that are used to decentrally govern and vote on the future of the platform. Liquidity mining will distribute new PRT tokens when artists create NFTs and buyers make purchases on the platform — in essence the more involved in their ecosystem you become, the more say you’ll have when it comes to governance.
This PRT governance token will be featured as a liquidity mining pair, SFI ⇔ PRT, through Uniswap on Saffron.Finance. This partnership begins today at the start of Epoch 4 (December 27) with a combined reward total of 25 SFI and 1,000,000 PRT.
